In my continued efforts to update my NYC skyline photos I drove out to Jersey City, New Jersey with my wife to get this angle of lower Manhattan. When we got there I knew I had the right viewing angle, but the light was very flat. It was just a matter of sitting around for a while to see what happened.
As I had hoped, the sun broke through the clouds on the horizon just before it set behind me. This provided a stronger and more directional light, which is just what I needed.
