Borobudur Sunrise Borobudur Sunset Silhouette Missed both alarms on the watches, but somehow happened to wake up at 4:52 am. We were out on the street 6 minutes later. I’ve never gotten dressed so quickly!

Our ride, however, was almost 20 minutes late, and we thought we might have missed the bus. Anyway, we arrived at the entrance gate to Borobudur a few minutes before it opened at 6.

It’s an impressive monument. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the irony--sitting high on a Buddhist temple surrounded by heavy Muslim praying over the loudspeakers of several different mosques, and the firecrackers of Idul Fitri celebrations all around.
