First Snowfall. New Rochelle, New York, USA. November 12, 2013As I was looking out the window, the light rain changed to light snow--the first of the year. The dusting of snow on the colorful leaves was beautiful, and I knew I needed to move quickly if I wanted to capture it. I walked a couple of blocks down my street and entered the Twin Lakes Nature Study Reserve. There were interesting compositions all around, so I got to work. The snow on otherwise normal Fall scenes added that extra something. First SnowfallLeaves, Red Berries, Snow. Twin Lakes Nature Study Reserve. New Rochelle, New York, USA. As one of my photographic heroes, Galen Rowell, pointed out, the edges, or transitions, are places to watch for interesting things to happen. Water and land, meadow and forest, storm and calm. Here the edge is between seasons and there was indeed plenty to see. Comments
