Perhaps it is the larger scale, or maybe because they were in palaces, but there is something special about the relaxing nature of the places and the sense of calm they bestow. 

The images posted here are from the Museo de Bellas Artes, or the Fine Art Museum, in Sevilla. This is the site of a former monastery that now houses a collection of religious art. It seems the Church was not lacking in funds when this was built.
