The Long Day Begins Good news! At the quarterly image competition of the Westchester Professional Photographers Association this week, 2 of my photos were winners. Both were taken during a trip to Myanmar (Burma) two years ago. This image, Workers in the Mist, took First Place. It happened during 6 days of travel on the Ayeyarwady River on a cargo boat. 

Waking up early every day to the rhythms of life along the river’s edge gave me a great opportunity to get a glimpse into the daily routine. I was on deck to observe and photography as we floated by. It was a great way to travel, with no crazy connections, dusty roads or jarring potholes as there are with bus or train travel. I could return to my berth to charge batteries (mine or my camera’s) whenever necessary.

Journey to Another World This image, Balloons Over Bagan, won Third Place. I featured it in my blog on October 15, 2012. It was truly a magical scene!
