Man fishing with net from small boat at sunrise. Ayeyarwady River, Myanmar. Fishing at Sunrise I woke up with sore hips and lower back. The mattress in the bunk is thin, but for some reason I wasn’t bothered the first night. We had been docked at Shwegu for some time, but loading operations didn’t start until around 6:00. I again forced myself to get out of bed and today was rewarded with some good shots of a fisherman in his boat casting his net in the sunrise mist.

Once we got underway, I had some coffee and cake for breakfast. I was watching the scenery for most of the trip, some from up by the bridge, and some at the lower level by the bow. We went through a couple of gorges that were a dramatic change from most of the flat riverbed we had seen most of the way up.
