From the Journals…Joshua Tree National Park, California, USA. February 2001I was camping out in the park and enjoying the solitude—not too many people choose to go camping in the winter. I was exploring an area close to my campsite to find an appropriate subject for a silhouette at sunset. I came across these Joshua trees and thought that they would make an interesting composition. I set up my tripod and waited. Eventually, as it usually does, the sky got interesting after sunset, giving me those rich, saturated colors. This is probably a 15-second exposure.
