From the Journals... Kawgun Cave, Kayin State, Myanmar (Burma). February 5, 2014

{I just returned from six weeks in Myanmar (Burma), Singapore, and Malaysia. It was a good trip, and I plan to keep you updated on my photos as I edit and post them to my website.}

Sacred CaveSacred CaveBuddha images guard entrance to Kawgun Cave. Near Hpa-An, Myanmar (Burma). I was up at 6 and out the door at 6:30. I went over to the morning market. The light was good and there was plenty of activity, so I got some good pix.

I had a quick breakfast, then went to the tea house at 8 to meet Naing Tun, my new friend. He ate, then we soon departed on our day. We did many of the local sights and got some decent pix at our first stop, Kawgun Cave.

I also got some photos at Kyauk ka lat, a pagoda on top of a limestone outcropping surrounded by a manmade lake. Some of the other sights were interesting, but didn’t really have photo potential.

As has happened in the past, a day out on a motorcycle with a knowledgable guide has turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip. Even though the light wasn’t perfect, we drove through some beautiful countryside with all these karst hills around us.
