Mandalay PalaceMandalay PalaceGrand Palace compound from watch tower, Mandalay Fort. Mandalay, Myanmar. In the morning, we went to the Palace compound at Mandalay Fort. The fort is enormous, roughly 2 miles by 2 miles. Inside, in addition to a museum, is a reproduction of the palace as is was before it was destroyed in World War 2.

We were able to climb a tower to get this view. I was trying to imagine life as it was back in its heyday, full of people in exotic clothes going about their daily business taking care of the royal family and running the kingdom.
