Mezquita ExteriorMezquita ExteriorMezquita Exterior, Córdoba, Spain. I had a great time exploring this city. Not only are the must-see attractions worth visiting, but there is so much more. As I walked around town, I had a great time accidentally stumbling on to cool things and visual tidbits. After photographically experimenting with a scene, I would move on to the next. Every so often I would rediscover the same scene in different light, and would have to work it a bit more with my camera.

This is the Mezquita. A stunning example of Mudejar architecture that was originally a mosque, this incredible structure was spared when the Catholic Monarchs took over southern Spain. Instead, a Catholic cathedral was added on to the existing building and is in use to this day.

This is an HDR, or high dynamic range photo, meaning that there is a wide range of light values from very dark to very bright. I used specialized software, NIK HDR Effects Pro, to tame these light values and bring them together to enable our eyes to see details in those light and dark areas. I also brought out some of the structure to make it appear very sharp.
