From the Journals… Mandalay, Myanmar (Burma). January 23, 2019
We stopped at a newly-built jade stupa on the way back from Sagaing. We had lunch at a restaurant in town, then we were dropped off at the hotel for a siesta.
We didn’t get out again until 4:30. The goal this trip was to check out 7 hotels that might sell my book or that we might want to use for our photo tour next year. I think the most promising for the latter would be the Ayerwaddy River View Hotel at the western edge of the city, right by the river.
We got dropped off at a slightly different part of the night market, near food stalls, but actually at a proper restaurant. I had a hot pot that was very good, apparently a Mandalay specialty. We were all beat when we got back to the hotel and went to bed at 9.
