Working the WatersWorking the WatersSunrise silhouette of traditional fisherman on Inle Lake. Shan State, Myanmar (Burma). I woke up a little before five, which was ahead of the alarm. We were going to have breakfast at 6 and our boat guy was to come by the hotel at 6:30. All went as scheduled, but we discovered that it was the brother of the boat guy, whose English wasn’t as good, who was our captain.

It was chilly out on the lake, but the PFDs and blankets provided helped a lot. We found fisherman soon—I had been asked if I wanted real fIsherman or models who would want t be paid. I went for the model because that is the traditional style, even though it isn’t used so much these days. This guy was a pro and knew all the poses. Just when I thought we were set, he came up with another pose. I got front and back light.
