Farm SceneFarm SceneFarm scene on train ride to Mawlamyine, Myanmar (Burma). The train arrived at 9:15. It was a much slower train than yesterday. I would guess top speed was about 30 mph. It was much more quiet than yesterday’s ride, with a lot less shaking and dust. It’s funny because I remember this ride from 2014 as being very shaky.

We rode through more beautiful countryside, first with mountains way in the distance, then getting closer. Plenty of farm fields and small villages.

There was no shortage of food on the train, and Myo stopped almost every vendor to sample their goods. There were some tasty surprises like a fried coconut, jaggery and peanut crispy cake. Lunch was chicken and rice served in a banana leaf.

We arrived in Mawlamyine at 5:45 and discovered that there was a bus leaving for ye at 6. We took a taxi to the bus station and got tickets. I was pleased that we could move on to our destination without having to spend the night in Mawlamyine.
