Take a BreakTake a BreakRiverside restaurant at Kyaing Lakoiw Paya, Kyaing Ywar. Mon State, Myanmar (Burma). After 30 minutes we arrived at Kyaing Ywar, a village which is the departure point for boat excursions upriver. There is a comprehensive bamboo structure built on a gravelly sandbar that houses a bunch of snack stalls. I’m pretty sure this is a seasonal construction that gets swept away during the rainy season.

We hired a boat here and headed upriver for about 15 minutes. For most of the way the water wasn’t deeper than chest-deep for me, and it was fairly clear. We arrived at Kyaing Lakoiw Paya, which, in addition to more snack stalls and some tables in the river, had a tower with a Buddha image on it that is joined to land by a high bridge. It served as a good vantage point for some pix.

After about an hour of hanging out and exploring, be boarded the boat for the return trip. It was starting to get warm.
