Up at 5:15 for breakfast, then drove 1-½ hours into the park. Registered for a site, then started hiking at 9:00.
It’s a very interesting place, with temperatures lower than the surrounding area. Lots of greenery in the gorge, including grasses, palms, and ferns. We made a couple of trips up side canyons, visiting The Moss Garden, Art Gallery, and Cathedral Cave. The latter 2 had aboriginal painting and stenciling. Awesome to think this was done over 3,000 years ago! I got some pix.
A long day of hiking, hot in the afternoon. We returned to camp at 5, very tired, and a bit dehydrated. We showered, then made camp and cooked dinner--macs, lentils, tomato sauce, pepper, carrots, and zucchini. We were joined by an Australian couple--sugar cane farmers passing through. Very friendly.
