In my continued efforts to update my NYC skyline photos (see previous post) I drove out to Jersey City, New Jersey with my wife to get this angle of lower Manhattan. When we got there I knew I had the right viewing angle, but the light was very flat. It was just a matter of sitting around for a while to see what happened.

As I had hoped, the sun broke through the clouds on the horizon just before it set behind me. This provided a stronger and more directional light, which is just what I needed.

I photographed 6 or 7 frames across the skyline with the camera in a vertical position. In post production, I used Lightroom to merge the images into a panorama and then used Intensify Pro software to increase sharpening and contrast.
