We spent most of the day looking, talking with our fellow travelers, and resting. We stopped for a lunch and bathroom break around 1. After that, the river got narrow and shallow and our progress slowed considerably. That's okay, it's all part of the adventure. At one point the captain and assistant were both in the water pounding the propeller back into shape with a mallet.

There were several times when they were out pushing the boat. Two of the British guys on board hopped in the water to help. I didn't expect to be on the boat so long, but we were there for the nice afternoon light. We arrived at 6:00 and shared a tuk tuk to the center of town.

I had been applying sunscreen 4 or 5 times during the day, and had been using my umbrella for shade since 12:30, but I got burned and was red and a bit sore at the end of the day. I was really dehydrated as well, so as soon as I checked into the 333 Guest House, I headed out looking for drinks and food. I ended up at the noodle shop recommended by LP. I had fried dumplings which were very good.
