Carrying On Ancient TraditionsCarrying On Ancient TraditionsMonks studying at Kha Khat Wain Kyaung Monastery. Bago, Myanmar (Burma). After a lunch of noodle salad at my mother-in-law’s house, I went to Kha Khat Wain Kyaung. It is a large monastery and I was able to get pix of monks studying. I felt an energy there with so many voices chanting.

As I was editing the photo I wanted to convey the feeling that I got thinking that this same activity has been going on for centuries here. Nik had recently come out with Analog Effects Pro, software that allows us to take our clear, crisp, and detailed files from our modern cameras and muck them up and make the photos look like they were taken a hundred years ago with a view camera, less-than-perfect lens, and a glass plate with smears and spots. Kind of crazy, I know, but I wanted to be able to step back in time.

Are you on the Time Machine with me?
