Each summer I try to take a photo workshop to learn new ideas to improve my photography. For many years I have attended the Professional Photographers Society of New York State’s Photo Workshop held at Hobart-William Smith College in Geneva, NY.

This July I had the opportunity to study with Michael and Tina Timmons. We learned how to use Photoshop more effectively in preparing prints for competition, and to use software plugins to get our work looking more lively and colorful. As a traditionalist, this concept was a bit hard for me. However, I forced myself to think outside my box and let go. You know what? I had a lot of fun freeing myself from the usual constraints!
